Can you believe it? The Advertising Standards Agency has banned a group of Christians in Bath from expressing the belief that God’s power can heal. They say that we Christians are no longer allowed to claim on leaflets, websites or anywhere else that God heals, even though the Bible gives clear evidence for healing by Jesus Christ and his followers.

Clearly the ASA has never heard of places Lourdes where there have been many healings through the power of God.

This outrageous attack on Christian freedom in our country forbids us from expressing our beliefs. Next we will be banned from telling people that Jesus loves you. How long before the Sacrament of Reconciliation is banned because we cannot possibly have a God that forgives sins. Then there will be a ban on the Eucharist – how on earth can we claim that simple bread and wine is changed through the power of the Holy Spirit into the Body and Blood of our Lord, Jesus Christ!

The next obvious and logical step is to ban religion altogether.

We have to stop this attack on our faith which also appears to breach Article 9 of the European Convention on Human Rights so may I suggest that all Christians write or email the ASA and bombard them with so much mail that they are forced to change their position.

Their website is www.asa.org.uk and the address to write to is 71 High Holborn, London WC1V 6QT.

Update: The pope also noted recent progress in medicine to combat disease. He said while new medications have helped to fight different diseases, the best form of help is faith in a higher power.
