Continuing with the New Translation of the Roman Missal

The wording of the Gloria has changed substantially and the new version is longer, however, the rubrics governing its use (said or sung every Sunday except during Advent and Lent) remain the same. New music has been composed and these are being introduced to parishes. There is an opportunity here to gather as a community to learn these new pieces!

An example of one of the changes to this great hymn of praise is that the phrase “Peace to his people on earth” has been replaced with the words “On earth peace to his people of good will.”

The section “of good will” better reflects the scriptural reference in Gospel of Luke:

‘Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace for those he favours.’ (Luke 2:14)
