The Pentecost novena in honor of the Holy Spirit is the oldest of all novenas since it was first made at the direction of Our Lord Himself immediately prior to his ascendion into heaven, when He sent His disciples back to Jerusalem to await the coming of the Advocate on the first Pentecost. Ralph Martin who has been appointed to the Pontifical Council for the New Evangelisation has frequently said that without a New Pentecost, there will be no New Evangelisation.

The Novena begins on Friday, May 10 even though here in the UK the Solemnity of the Ascension has been transferred to the following Sunday.

Each day during the Novena, a suggested prayer and intention will be published on this blog for you to follow, taken from 50 Days of Freedon, a booklet which includes the Novena for Pentecost.
