Korah had this special ministry among believe fights but he desired greater power and authority. He envied Moses and Aaron on and encouraged others to rebel against them. Such an action was not only a sin against Moses but a great sin of disobedience against God.
Just as Adam and Eve and in fact the whole of mankind has suffered death as a result of that first sin of disobedience, founded in envy and inappropriate ambition, so Korah and his followers were destroyed by God.
It was such envy and ambition that lead the chief priests to falsely accuse Jesus. They had comfortable positions in their society and wanted nothing to do with this man who claimed to be the son of God. But God used their ill-intentions to save mankind from the wages of sin – death. He allowed Jesus to suffer and die for our salvation. The unselfish act of Jesus saved you and me once and for ever.
So next time you feel envious of another whether it’s their power, money, position or the gifts they have, remember that God has given you a mission too, and he will furnish you with everything you need to accomplish his will.
Do not be envious of others, but be thankful and praise God for all he has done for you.
