Korah and the 250 rebels have perished but still the Israelites moan to God. God demonstrates both his power and mercy. He destroys a further 14,700 people with a plague until Aaron burned incense to purify the people and the plague stopped.
At the end of Mark’s gospel Jesus has overcome death and left the tomb. He appears to Mary Magdalen who told the disciples but they did not believe her. Jesus appeared to two disciples who were returning home to their village. They immediately went back to Jerusalem to tell the disciples but still they would not believe.
Later Jesus appeared to the 11 disciples and after rebuking them for their unbelief he sent them out in power to preach the Good News to the whole world.
Jesus said that those who believe and are baptised will be saved. Miraculous signs will accompany those who believe. They will cast out Demons in the name of Jesus, speak in new languages, handle deadly snakes, drink poison without being harmed and ‘they will be able to place their hands on the sick, and they will be healed’.
Are you baptised? Do you truly believe in the Risen Christ? If so, you can heal the sick! Next time you visit someone who is ill ask to place your hands on their head or shoulders and command them to be healed in the name of Jesus.
